The history of Abuelo rhum dates back to 1908, when Don José Varela Blanco, a young Spanish immigrant, founded the first sugar mill in the recently formed Republic of Panamá. Belonging to the Varela family since a century, Abuelo cultivate over 1 200 acre of sugar cane trough the country.
