Founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher, the Ardmore distillery went from two to four stills in 1955, then from four to eight in 1974. Until 2002, these stills were heated over an open fire with coal. The distillery produces a second non-peated single malt: Ardlair.
With a phenol content of between 12 and 14 ppm, this version evolves throughout the tasting in a register that is both pastoral and empyreumatic. This duality not only gives it a great deal of personality, but also a great deal of charm.
