For the 2024 edition, Black Tot Master Blender Oliver Chilton has included a greater proportion of Barbadian rums to accentuate the rich tropical fruit in the blend. As always, he has sought to bring his own personal touch to the blend, this year including a 1997 rum from the defunct Caroni distillery in Trinidad and Tobago.
Reimagining the lost art of perpetual naval blending, Oliver Chilton started with rum from the 2023 edition. Barrels were then selected from Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Jamaica. These four distinct blends were then blended with the perpetual reserve, layered and perfectly balanced. As always, original Royal Navy (Last Consignment) rum casks are added to the blend to preserve the liquid history.
