CAOL ILA 18 years 2007 Moscatel Finish B.Bros - LMDW - La Maison du Whisky

Located near Port Askaig, Caol Ila embodies both the peated soul of Islay and an unexpected elegance. Thanks to a distillation process that retains fewer heavy phenols, its style stands out with gentle smoke and subtle fruitiness. This single cask, finished for over three years in a Moscatel cask, reveals a rich and complex indulgence. On the nose, coastal smoke intertwines with red fruits and sweet peat. The palate unfolds with ripe cherries, honeyed apricots, and spiced plums, layered with the oily character of the distillate and a delicate driftwood smoke. Hints of light rubber appear towards the finish, giving way to a lingering finale of sea spray, ash, and caramelized sweetness. This whisky is part of the Odyssey range, an annual collection of 20 casks carefully selected and re-racked for a secondary maturation of at least three years. Each one explores the possibilities of controlled aging, charting a unique journey through the influences of wood.
