Equiano is the result of a collaboration between two distilleries on two different continents, Foursquare Distillery in Barbados and Gray's Distillery in Mauritius. Equiano Ominira, which means 'freedom' in Yoruba, one of Africa's largest ethnic groups, is the first edition in the LEGACY BLEND series.
This cuvée is a blend of African and Caribbean rums matured in old bourbon, cognac and sherry casks. Aged for at least 11 years in a tropical climate and then reduced to 52%, Equiano Ominira promises great aromatic depth: ripe banana, molasses, vanilla, spices and cedarwood evolving towards floral notes. On the palate, it reveals flavours of dark chocolate, caramel and tropical fruit, with a hint of cinnamon, nuts and oak.
