Hampden Estate unveils its latest creation: THE 8 MARKS COLLECTION AGED 1 YEAR IN EX-BOURBON CASKS.
While the first version of this box focused on the ester content of the various unaged Marks, this new edition reveals the impact of a year's ageing in ex-bourbon casks on the distillery's 8 Marks. Carried out in the distillery's official cellars, this maturation takes place in Jamaica's tropical, humid and extreme climate, which speeds up the process.
In addition, a flyer detailing the history of the distillery is included in the box, providing an insight into the secrets of the Hampden cellars. It explains the many variables and phenomena that shape the profile of rums during the maturation process, and includes computer graphics, scientific information on the extraction of components from the wood during maturation, and a tasting mat.
