Founded in 1798, the Tobermory distillery was dormant from 1837 to 1878 and then from 1930 to 1972. Renamed Ledaig, it closed again between 1975 and 1979, and then from 1982 to 1989. Since 2013, it has belonged to the South African group Distell and produces two single malts: Tobermory, unpeated, and Ledaig, peated at 38 ppm, which since 2022 represents around 70% of production. This impressive version from the cellars of the Scottish trading house Gordon & MacPhail invites us to discover an aromatic and taste palette whose smallest interstice is impregnated by an omnipresent peat with multiple facets.
