During the production of the casks, the wood is heated to release its specific aromas. The “Salamander Toast,” developed in collaboration with cooper Guillaume Lacroix in the Sancerre region, takes inspiration from this mythical fire-dwelling creature and allows the wood to express grilled and roasted notes.
For the maturation of this whisky, this intense toasting was applied to both red wine casks and new French oak casks. A finishing period in local Pinot Noir casks completes the aromatic palette.
The combination of the Salamander Toast and the vinous notes gives the whisky a remarkable roundness, with a long finish that blends red fruit, chocolate, and toasted nuances.
