The Renegade distillery's latest range, Single Farm Origin, reveals a new aspect of Mark Reynier's thinking on the notion of terroir. It features blends of pot-still and column-distilled rums from several parcels, all sourced from a single farm on the island of Grenada. The rums are aged on the island of Grenada in the finest French and American oak barrels.
The first opus in this range, Cuvée Lake Antoine, is a blend of several varieties of sugarcane, grown in the north of Grenada, where the land lies on the steep, sea-facing slopes of a volcanic crater lake.
Reduced to 46%, this rum reveals a spicy nose with notes of caramel and vanilla. On the palate, initial notes of dried fruit, lightly woody, give way to hazelnut aromas, for a soft, warm finish.
