For Rum Nation's 20th anniversary, we selected some of the best and sweetest casks for this cherished rum from Guatemala. Made with sugar cane molasses, the rum passes through a distillation column and is aged for at least four years in former American bourbon barrels in the tropical region of Río Hondo in Guatemala. The secret of its richness comes from a second 16-month maturation in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez casks in one of Italy's cool and mountainous regions. This second maturation, called continental, helps obtain and combine notes of wine and fresh fruit with the natural and fragrant sweetness of vanilla and raisins, taking its complexity to another level.
