This Tomatin 1990 matured for 34 years in an American Hogshead cask before being bottled at its natural strength of 42.60%. This Highland single malt, with its smooth and exotic profile, opens with notes of pineapple, caramel, and pepper. The Tomatin Distillery, officially founded in 1897 in the Monadhliath Mountains, south of Inverness, embodies the elegance of Highland whisky. Once one of Scotland’s largest distilleries, Tomatin has reinvented itself to focus on quality over quantity, producing refined single malts characterized by softness and balance. Its style stands out for its fruity and honeyed aromas, often enhanced by notes of baked apple, vanilla, and spiced oak, thanks to careful maturation in bourbon and sherry casks. True to its mountain heritage, Tomatin combines authenticity, mastery of ageing, and warmth, offering whiskies that are both approachable and profound. Created in 1968 by whisky visionary “Mr George” Urquhart, the Connoisseurs Choice range has featured more than 2,000 bottlings from around 100 Scottish distilleries. Each Connoisseurs Choice whisky tells its story through its label: cask type, bottling date, strength, vintage, and tasting notes. Always non-chill-filtered, these rare single cask and small batch expressions are the result of Gordon & MacPhail’s unmatched expertise in pairing spirit with oak — a skill passed down through four generations of the same family.
